  • "The BEST place for DIY workshops and gear for the gardener or urban farmer.

Beekeeping, apple-juicing, composting and worm farms, kombucha scoby, and yeast to ferment anything from beer to hard cider.

Tip: Sign Up for the Workshopsโ€”Theyโ€™re AWESOME!!โ€

    โ€” Jeanmarie B.

  • "One of the best and most unique shopping and learning destinations in Fairfax, if not Marin County!

All items here look like they were hand selected for being the best in class. Even though everything here is top quality, the price range offers something for everyone. In addition to the merchandise, there are a whole range of highly informative classes that help you learn and master how to use some of these tools. You must stop in to check it out. It is also a great place for unique and thoughtful gifts.โ€

    โ€” Lisel B.

  • "Gosh, what a special place and space.

I've attended two great workshops here, and purchased several items and, well, this is one of those places you just want to keep going back to. Any excuse!โ€

    โ€” Felicia C.

  • "The store is a delight for shopping and Jim keeps some supplies that can be hard to find anywhere nearby.

When we moved to West Marin, the first thing I looked for was a farm store. FBF fits the bill perfectly for this homesteader. I love the big box farm stores, but the owner is so helpful and knowledgeable that I buy the good stuff from him. Worth it.โ€

    โ€” Cory N.

  • "Take that class. Make that thing. Grow that food.

Nurture that wild animal. Slow down a bit, for you, your family, and your community. Jim is there to help, and this shop has everything you need. You'll never regret you did.โ€

    โ€” Brian D.

About

Our Story

  • It wasnโ€™t all that long ago that our families grew their own vegetables, kept bees and chickens, made their own cheese, and fermented their own foods. We believe itโ€™s time to reclaim our roots as farmers, bringing traditional farming practices to our own backyards and kitchens.
