Intermediate Beekeeping Series

Intermediate Beekeeping Series - Lecture + Field (9hrs) #128
$215.00

You’ve got your colony through winter (or not) – now what?

Join EAS Master Certified Beekeeper Bonnie Morse of Bonnie Bee and Company for an advanced exploration of beekeeping at the intermediate level. Going into spring with an active overwintered hive can be a challenging and exhilarating experience. You will be guided by one of the premier Beekeepers in the country as you absorb the art and science of intermediate beekeeping

Class sessions will include how to clean up your equipment, expanding hive size for spring, swarm prevention - and if that fails, swarm capture, setting up bait hives for swarms, identification of common pests and diseases, and management options for them. Topics will also include dealing with special situations: aggressive hives, queen failures, and laying workers. The field day will include information on how to split a colony, pest and disease ID, and swarm prevention.
